Toot your horn

So now you have a name and a framework (template) for your website.  Where do you go from here?

Some people have the whole website picture in their head and just need a way to make it manifest.  Others' ideas evolve as they go and as more possibilities become probabilities.

You can look at other websites that display work similar to yours and decide what kind of format you like.  Or you can pick out the digital photos you want to use and have them handy, and write down some words you'd like to include.  Then you can choose a template and start placing images and words and let your site evolve as you go along.

Definitely write about yourself, why you do what you do, the great things people have said about your work (even if it's your mom), and a story about the work itself.  On my Seven Scrolls site, it worked out that seven scrolls would fit nicely on a page so I decided to group them by theme ("elements, virtues, on island, africa, etc").  I posted the photos of each piece, with the name below each piece and then wrote a couple of sentences about each theme.  People have told me they loved knowing what inspired the pieces, where the cloth came from, and occasionally how each piece got its name:

reflecting our travels; the cloth we've gathered along the way and the dreams inspired by distant cultures: our "adventure" Scrolls embody the Spirit of the journey: on the earth, in our minds and within our hearts.
